Lucy C. Youell, 88, of Belle, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017. She was born in the spring of 1929 to the late William and Stella Cochran. Lucy grew up in Malden, and was a graduate of Charleston High School. With her love of fashion, Lucy began working for Frankenbergers Department Store. She later worked for and retired from West Virginia State, Department of Health and Human Resources, Child Support Advocacy Division. Although Lucy retired in 1995 from DHHR, she then went to work with the West Virginia Legislature, working for Senators Wooten and Kessler. Lucy loved to travel, the running family joke was that she could have her bags packed in 5 minutes, but her most favorite place though was the beach and her time spent there with family. Lucy was a lifelong member of St. John Catholic Church in Belle. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband George Youell, and siblings, William, Oscar, Ann and Rebecca. Lucy is survived by her children, Linda (Donald) Taylor of St. Albans, Jon of Chesapeake, Thomas of Belle and Ann (Donnie) Nelson of Charleston; grandson, Brandon Youell of Charleston; and great-grandchildren, Sydnea, Eli, Lilly and Mason, all of Charleston. The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2017, Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Father Biju officiating. The burial will follow the service at Montgomery Memorial Park in London. Family and friends may gather from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank all her care givers she had during her 2-year stay at Quarry Manor (Kanawha Place).
