Michael “Mike” Ray Good, 52, of Charleston, WV passed away peacefully Sunday, September 25, 2022, after a short illness at Thomas Hospital while family lovingly surrounded him and sang “What A Day That Will Be.”
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Shirley Good, who loved to sing gospel, along with his two sisters, Lana Good and Misty Young. Also preceding him in death were his nephew, Nicholas Arthur, and nieces, Cierra Good and Hannah Young.
Left to cherish Mike’s memories are his father, William “Bill” Good; his siblings Betty Smith, Wendy (Johnny) Tuell, Marty (Kim) Good, Tina Adkins, John (Renea) Good, and Faith (Chuck) Wilkinson. Also left to relish in the memories of their Uncle Mike are his nieces and nephews, Billy Joe Smith, Bridgette Smith, Brett Page, Shavonna (Jeff) Shafer, Whitney Page, Johnny Shane Tuell, Jimmy Tuell, Lindsey Good, Shane (Gina) Good, Nicole (Jon) Sovine, John (Sarah) Good, Haley Young, Noah Young, Remington (Katie) Young, Emily Young, Brady Wilkinson, Shaylyn Wilkinson, along with 36 great nieces and nephews, 1 great-great nephew, lifelong friends Robbie Thaxton and Jerry Buckley, and many others.
Mike was born into a large family and wanted to make sure he was noticed. Mike wrestled in junior high and high school. He had a gift for singing with a wonderful voice and loved to sing Garth Brooks. Mike was a daredevil and enjoyed riding motorcycles and performing tricks while riding. He especially loved racing, including NASCAR and Mario Kart but especially dirt track. His passion for dirt track racing began as a small boy watching his dad, Bill, drive the #8 car at Charleston Speedway. Mike traveled the area to watch local dirt track racing and was well known for wheeling through the pits while cheering on his favorite drivers, Rick Lucas, Rod Evans, and Donnie Moran. Mike will always be remembered for the love he showed his family, being a daredevil on and off the track, and his ability to talk to anyone by telling them his tall stories.
A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Thursday September 29, 2022 at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden.
