

Steven Dewayne (Dick) Dickerson, 56, of Miami, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston. Steve was born in Charleston to Lawrence and Shirley Dickerson on March 8, 1960. He went to school at East Bank High and graduated June 8, 1978. He enjoyed 4-wheeling with his buddies, cooking on the grill with friends and family, working in the yard, tinkering in the garage, vacationing and holding the remote! He was a devoted Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan and had accumulated a large collection of NASCAR memorabilia through the years. When diagnosed with cancer in 2015, Steve remained dedicated in his will to FIGHT his illness with the full support of his family and friends. They called him their “Superman”! He was a brave, strong-willed and sweet spirited man that never complained, even throughout his final days. Steve is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kim Dickerson; daughters, Shawn Connett and Cassey Pettry; son, David "Bub" Pettry; parents, Lawrence and Shirley Dickerson; brother, Gene Dickerson; sister, Nancy Dickerson; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews; and his “pride and joy”, 15 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved sister, Debbie Dickerson Meadows; and grandparents, Ed and Esta Dickerson and Charles and Mildred Ward. The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. at Ronda Apostolic Church, Wednesday, August 31, 2016, with Pastor Dale Pitsenbarger officiating. The burial will follow the service at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens in Glasgow. Visitation will be held at Ronda Apostolic Church on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. for his family and 12:00 p.m. until time of service for his friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hubbard Hospice House and Ronda Apostolic Church.
