

Velma Ann Litteral McClanahan, 79, of Marmet, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 5, 2016, with her family and friends by her side. She was born June 9, 1936 in Ohley. She worked at the Diamond Department Store and CAMC General Hospital in housekeeping. She was a Sunday school teacher for 50 years at the Chesapeake First Baptist Church and the healing Stream Missionary Baptist Church. She loved going to Church and teaching. Our mom will be missed by all and especially her husband and kids. Velma is survived by her husband of 45 years, Leonard McClanahan of Marmet; daughter, Mary Ann (David) Malcolm of Marmet; son, Kevin (Julie) McClanahan of North Carolina; granddaughter, Destiny (JP) Stewart; brother, C.L. Litteral of Chesapeake; two great-grandsons that she loved more than anything in the world, Braydon and Bryar; and great-granddaughter, Keira Stewart. She had some special ladies close to her heart, Mary Lou Hastings, Jackie Thomas, Lyn Pugh and Dianna Eagle. The family also sends a very special thank you to Rosalie Adkins. The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2016, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with the Rev. Keith George officiating. The burial will follow the service at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. A visitation with family and friends will be held Thursday, March 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Her pall bearers will be David Malcolm, Kevin McClanahan, Allan Harper, Justin Stewart, Cody Thomas and Doug Tuttle.
