He was born in Trenton and graduated from Hamilton High School. Not long after graduating, he was drafted by the New York Giants where he was able to pursue his life- long passion as a catcher for Major League Baseball.
He married his High School sweetheart Alice Hornchek and together they raised their family in Hamilton Township and Surf City.
He served as Captain of the First Aid Squad for Rusling Hose Volunteer Fire Department. He then went on to serve on the East Windsor Township Police Department, where he rose to the rank of Detective Sergeant.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Alice, his loving children, Cynthia Skeie and her husband James, Brian and his wife Kimberly and Randy and his wife Debra, and his cherished grandchildren, Brandon and his wife Paige, Elise, Madison, Jake, Ben, Hannah and Hailey.
Edward enjoyed boating, fishing, crabbing, and coaching youth sports. Volunteering as a State Delegate to the New Jersey State PBA, where he represented his law enforcement brethren, and also attained PBA financial sponsorship for local teams. In the winter months, he and Alice travelled to Florida where they enjoyed the warm weather, time together, and Spring Training baseball..

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 11:00am-1:00pm at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ. A funeral home service will be held at 12:30 with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery/ Cedar Run, Rte.9 Manahawkin.
