Born in Jersey City, NJ on August 22, 1935 to the late Alexander and Carmella (LoPresto) Pranzo, ‘Phyllis’ moved to North Bergen as a young woman, where she married Santo ‘Sam’ Urato on September 10, 1955. Their union was blessed with three children and lasted until Sammy's passing on October 20, 2005.
Philomena worked as a hostess in Atlantic City casinos for nearly thirty years and her work ethic, personality, and positive attitude would later lead to her being named Hostess of the Year. Phyllis enjoyed skating, bowling, gambling, travelling, and possessed inimitable culinary gifts. Her family will share her laughter and love forever.
Survivors include her three children, Loretta, Glenn, Rene; son-in-law, John; four grandchildren, Alesha, Adam, Jennifer, Anton and his wife, Amy; two great-grandchildren, Xavier and Jacob; brother Gary and his wife Ginger, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Philomena’s Life Celebration and prayer service will be Friday the 18th 2020 at 3pm o’clock at Thos. L. Shinn Funeral Home, Manahawkin. Cremation is private.
Calling hours will be Friday, September 18, from 3PM until the time of services At 5:30.
