
Suzanne Metzger, 65, of Manahawkin, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family and friends on July 4, 2013. Suzanne was predeceased by her husband Ferdinand Metzger, father Howard Carlson and brother Stephen Carlson. She is survived by her two sons and their spouses, Scott and Jennifer Metzger of Rutherford, and Paul and Amanda Metzger of Manahawkin; along with her four grandchildren, Cate, Carlson, Anna and Grady. She is also survived by her sister Elizabeth Thees and husband Tom of Rumson, and brother Jeffrey Carlson and wife Nancy of Seaside Park. Lastly, Suzanne is survived by her mother Virginia Carlson of Beachwood and many nieces and nephews.
Suzanne was born in Severna Park, MD. She graduated in 1969 from Radford University in Virginia and later earned her Masters Degree from Georgian Court University. She was a French teacher and reading specialist in the Southern Regional School District for 36 years. She retired in 2004.
She enjoyed a full life, loving the beach, travelling, reading and most importantly spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Thos. L. Shinn Funeral Home from 4pm to 7pm on Monday July 8. 10 Hillard Drive, Manahawkin, NJ. A Memorial Service will be offered at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church on July 9 at 10:00 am 410 S. Atlantic Avenue at Marine Street, Beach Haven, NJ.
