My condolences go out to Arthur and Alice's family....I was truly lucky to have been a colleague and friend of hers for nearly 20 years...Our paths met in June of 1996 when I was assigned to Humanities Counseling when Irene Doles retired...It was a daunting task to try to replace a legend in Irene...My "Core Four" of counselors included Alice...they showed great patience with me as I learned the ropes...Alice in particular taught and mentored me in the intricansies of being an counseling area assistant...Details, details, details....we worked in 3 different locations over the years....It was tough love at first but she taught me more than she could have ever imagined and her patience with me was appreciated....She would refer to me as "Sweetie" or more commonly, "Dead Meat"....loved her whatever 
could called me! Give My Regards to Broadway reminds me of Alice...god bless!

We met when I was hired as an Admissions
Representative at Brookdale. 
She was an example of a seasoned, caring, professional Student Development Specialist, committed to student success. 
She also had a sense of humor and we shared a love of musical theater. She would often say/or sing " Give my regards to Broadway", which she wrote to me when I retired .
A Brookdale icon, fondly remembered, at peace.


I first met Alice in 2005 when I joined Brookdale Community College as a Student Development Specialist in the Counseling department.  Alice was a phenomenal person and colleague. She was kind, tenacious, strong,  smart and generous.  She was also a loyal friend and passionate about supporting the educational pursuits of the students she worked with.  Brookdale was her life and this is a testament to the 47+ years she graced our college and the lives of her colleagues who had the pleasure of working along side her. 

Alice was also a very strong person with grit and determination. This was evident in the fact that many of us probably did not know that she was dealing with any health challenges and she liked it that way. No matter what she faced it would not stop her tenacity and determination to push past it, keep moving forward, and continue to be a blessing to others.  I will miss going next door to her office and sitting down to glean from the wealth of knowledge and wisdom  she provided.  Alice will truly be missed, her light will forever shine bright in my heart, but she will never be forgotten.  To her family may you find strength and peace during this time. Rest my friend.

I am so sorry for your loss. I will greatly miss Alice, as will my daughter. Alice and I served on BCC's Gen Ed committee together for years and I always enjoyed and appreciated her knowledge, humor, and that she was a voice of reason. She always had our student's best interest in mind no matter what we were discussing. More recently my daughter took a gap year from her 4-yr college to come to Brookdale. Alice was the first person I thought of to contact to help her get her courses straight, as so many students have done over the years. She was so kind and helpful with my daughter and I appreciate this so much. I love Alice and will really miss her. Your family is in my prayers.--Sarah Leahy

My Aunt Alice was a force of nature. Hilarious, unapologetic, sassy, and so much fun. I plan to keep her feistiness, tenacity, and bravery living on in me. I'm grateful to have been her niece. 
I'm grateful for all the laughter and all the jokes, and all the lessons I learned from her, even from the opposite side of this massive continent, for the 35 years that I had her in my life. 

About a year ago I sent something out about having struggled with depression, as soon as she read my post she called me to connect. She shared about having struggled with depression in her life and wanted to be absolutely sure I knew she was there for me if I needed her. 
That's who she was. She was silly and hilarious and a rock, a deep powerful support system, a caring, loving, compassionate human being. She was one of my biggest fans and I was one of hers too. 
It feels unbelievable that I won't hear her voice or rattle off a long line of silly salutations with her again, "after while crocodile" "see ya later alligator" "10-4"

And now I grieve, and I keep her with me, and cry and laugh when I think of her, for the rest of my days. 
See you again, Alice. We love you. 

Alice was the dearest of sister-in-laws; always a joy - giving and caring. I keep having a vision of her face aglow, serene, and free of all pain.  We along with her nieces and nephew, their families ( plus untold others...) will forever cherish her witty humor and repartee.  Even now in sharing memories of Alice’s life we laugh through our tears. She was “one of a kind” and we love her forever. Lynn Merryl (Mandelberg)


We were deeply saddened to learn of Alice's death.  We respected her intellect and amazing sense of humor.  We enjoyed travels and many happy occasions with her and Arthur.  She will be sorely missed. Heart condolences to Arthur and to her brother.
