Ellen was one of a kind, from her fabulous bangs covering her eyes leaving just enough room to see, to her leopard print wardrobe that stunned anyone in a room. She was a fashionista, a makeup artist, a comedian, and so much more to so many people. Ellen lived her life for her children and grandchildren, with a mission to make those who loved her happy. She was the light of her husband Marvin's life, which showed through in all of the beautiful poems he wrote for her. Ellen had such an impact on her family, friends, and even strangers who had the pleasure of meeting her. If there was a medal for the best personality, she'd win gold. She started her days with a full face of makeup and coffee in hand by 7 a.m., and a long stroll through the neighborhood with her dog Henry, her pride and joy. Her days were not complete without trips to Wegman's, Marshalls, and TJMAXX, while showing off Henry who rested comfortably in every shopping cart.
Ellen raised her family in Teaneck, New Jersey before moving to Manchester, New Hampshire and then retiring with her loving husband Marvin in Columbus, New Jersey.
Ellen was predeceased by her husband Marvin, mother Katie, father Hyman, and brother Michael Teitelbaum.
She is survived by her sister Ruthie, daughter Mindy and son-in-law Robbie Hebenstreit, son Gary and daughter-in-law Becky Chodes, daughter Jill Chodes-Henault and her partner Tom Whalen, son Richard and daughter-in-law Wendy Chodes, sister-in-law Carol Chodes, 9 Grandchildren; Justin and his wife Sarah Hebenstreit, Joshua Hebenstreit, Jessica Henault, Matthew, Adam, Laura, Allie, Corey, and Jordan Chodes, and her beloved dog Henry. Ellen will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Her memory and wisdom will carry on through all of us. The biggest diva that ever walked this earth has made a lasting impact that could never be forgotten.
A small graveside service with Ellen's immediate family will be held on February 4th 2021 at Beth Israel Cemetery In Woodbridge, New Jersey. A memorial will be held next year once it is safer to bring a larger group together to honor her life; date to be announced.
