Jerry graduated Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He received his Masters Degree in History from Rutgers University.
He taught History at Arlington State College in Arlington, Texas, Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania & was at Middlesex County College for 41 ½ years where he taught History, was Dean of Continuing Education, Department Chair of History & Social Science, & Executive Assistant Vice President of the College.
He started the Holocaust Center at Middlesex County College and was on the Board of the Jewish Federation of Greater Middlesex County and on the Holocaust and Education Committee of the Federation.
He is survived by his sisters Pat Lamatino and Marcia Trechak (Perry). He was pre-deceased by his sister Edna Kaplan. He leaves his nieces and nephews Randi Bilinski, Rikki Field (Robert) Shelley, Robert (Aileen) and Richard Kaplan, Eric (Linda), Philip (Jessica), and Brad (Missy) Trechak & Judi Skalak & many great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday December 30, 2018, at 11AM, at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Avenue/ Rt 527,Manalapan, NJ. Burial will take place at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin, N.J.
The family requests that donations be made to the Holocaust Center of Middlesex County College.
