Born in Newark, she resided in Newark, Irvington, and Springfield before moving to Monroe. Mildred was a resident at Greenbriar at Whittingham and Brookdale Senior Living both in Monroe.
Mildred was employed as a insurance clerk at Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Newark, NJ.
During Mildred's retirement, she donated her time and support to Meals on Wheels and Hadassah.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband Leonard of 52 years.
Surviving are her sons Scott Semel and Mark Semel and his wife Marci, her daughter Karen Kober and her husband Rod, four grandchildren: Michael Semel and his wife Emily Wendel, Ashley Avant and her fiancé Spencer Ragland, Joshua Avant, and Molli Semel, and one great-grandson: Caiden Ragland.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 18, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Avenue, Manalapan, NJ 07726. Following the funeral service will be a committal service at 2:30 PM at Beth Israel Cemetery, 1098 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge, NJ 07095.
Shiva will be held in 2 locations, first at Scott Semel's home, 474A Fairton Drive, Monroe, NJ after the funeral on Monday, Tuesday 1-3pm & 5-8pm, and then at Mark & Marci Semel's home, 8 Brohm Place, Fanwood, NJ on Wednesday 1-3 & 5-8pm & Thursday 5-8pm.
