December 23, 1935 – January 10, 2025
Shelly Belkin passed away peacefully in Bridgewater, NJ on January 10, 2025, just weeks after celebrating her 90th birthday. Born in the Bronx, NY, Shelly embodied warmth, harmony, and an appreciation for life’s simplest pleasures.
Shelly married her soulmate, Larry Belkin, on June 4, 1955. Their loving marriage spanned 65 years, and their bond continued beyond Larry’s passing in 2020.
Shelly is survived by her devoted children and grandchildren:
Paul Belkin, married to Elyse; proud parents of Gillian (25) and Sophie (23) ,Stacy Jackson, married to David; devoted parents of Henry (24) and Evan (21), Adam Belkin, married to Audrey; loving parents of Jared (25) and Nadia (23).
Those six extraordinary grandchildren brightened her thoughts daily.
A pillar of tradition and community, Shelly and Larry were early members of Temple Shaari Emeth in Manalapan, NJ. For over 40 years, she graced the synagogue’s choir—her song weaving harmony into High Holiday and Shabbat services, her love reaching out through her voice.
Shelly held a secret superpower: she was a Scrabble master! She didn’t just play—she beat the pants off her opponents while bringing endless joy to games with family and friends at the Jersey Shore, her happiest of places. She also loved weekly Mah Jongg games, annual Passover seders and High Holiday celebrations, and her many friendships, including one of more than 85 years! From sunshine-filled shore days to cozy living room game nights, she showed us how small joys can fill a life with love.
Above all, Shelly’s greatest love was her husband, Larry. Though his passing deeply saddened her, their reunion brings comfort to all who loved them.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Beth Israel & Woodbridge Cemetery and Memorial Gardens, 1098 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge, NJ 07095.
