Born in Brooklyn, she lived in Old Bridge before moving to Jackson in 2003.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Fried was a Social Worker for the Monmouth County Board of Social Service in Freehold.
She was predeceased by her husband Benjamin Paul, her son Michael Paul, and her brother, Sidney Kaufman.
Surviving are her daughter Karen Krulewski and her husband John of Monroe Township, Shirley’s companion Joel Berenson and his daughter Cindy, her step-grandchildren Sean Krulewski, Heather Domko and her husband Joe, and a great-granddaughter Willow Domko. Also surviving is her sister Gloria Shanken.
Shirley enjoyed many activities including Mah-jongg, Canasta and traveling the world, especially cruises. She was also involved in her community theater group through the years.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 28th. Please arrive at 12:30; services to begin promptly at 1:00 at Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Avenue, Manalapan, followed by interment at Beth Olam Memorial Park, Lakewood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org).
Shiva will be observed at Mrs. Fried’s residence on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 4-8 pm.
