
Alfred J. Fortin, 81, (S MSgt USAF Ret.) of Manchester died October 25, 2010 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Newburyport, MA on March 3, 1929, the son of the late Joseph and Katherine (O’Connor) Fortin.
He has resided in Manchester for the better part of the last 40 years following a 21 year career in the Air Force when he retired with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He was employed as an orderly at the Hillsborough County Home and later as a purchasing agent for the Home.
He was a cheerful member of the adult Easter Seals program and participated every day. He also held membership in the Disabled American Veterans. His wife, Margaret (Swormstead) died in March 1997.
Family members include a daughter, Nancy Milne of Manchester; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother Paul Fortin of Topeka, KS; nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were on Wednesday from 4 to 7 in the McHugh Funeral Home, 483 Beech St., corner of Hanover St. A prayer service followed at 7 PM in the funeral home. Following cremation urn burial will be in the NH Veteran Cemetery, Boscawen at a later date.
