

David Black, 90, of Manchester, died October 5, 2015 at the Hackett Hill Healthcare Center after a brief illness. He was born in Boston, MA on August 17, 1925 the son of Samuel and Fannie (Grusky) Black. He grew up in the Boston area and was educated in the local school system.
When David was 17 years old, he enlisted in the US Navy and was a proud Veteran serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge, he relocated to Manchester where he worked in manufacturing for the Osram/Sylvania Corporation.
He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years Marjorie (Goad) Black in 2010.
Members of his family include his step-daughter Elaine Townsend and his step-grandchildren Michael Townsend, Kenneth Townsend and his wife Debbie, Sandy Thompson and her husband Frank and Sheila Manley and her husband Bobbi and his step great-grandchildren all of West Virginia.
David was loved by his many close friends and his church family especially his caretaker Dona Blais of Manchester.
There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday October 17 at 2pm in the First Baptist Church 536 Union St. in Manchester. Urn burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in David’s name may be made to the First Baptist Church. The McHugh Funeral Home has been entrusted with his care.
