Dr. Frank Orville Warren III, lovingly known to most as “Dewey,” passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, with his family by his side, just three days shy of his 75th birthday. Dewey was a lifelong resident of New Hampshire and most recently resided in Manchester.
Born on December 18, 1950, in Manchester, Dewey was a proud football quarterback & graduate of Central High School. After high school, he went on to attend the University of New Hampshire, a time he often referred to as the “best four years of his life.” Dewey formed many important, lifelong friendships during his high school and college years, relationships he cherished and maintained until the very end of his life.
Following UNH, Dewey attended medical school at the University of Maryland, completing his residency at St Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester & then Maine Medical in Portland, where he met his wife of 30 years, Debbie. After completing his residency & having their first daughter, the couple relocated to Bedford, NH where he would settle for the next 40 years.
Dewey dedicated over 20 years of his professional life to caring for others as a general surgeon. His humility, steady presence and bedside manner, regardless of who he was treating or where they came from, defined both his career & his character. Always a champion for the underdog, caring for people was not just his profession - it was who he was.
Outside of medicine, Dewey had many passions. He was an avid reader, dedicated gardener & devoted follower of the Red Sox & Patriots. His love of caring extended beyond people to animals of all kinds. From family dogs to ducks, rabbits, chipmunks, hamsters, and even buffalo, Dewey was forever bringing animals home with his children, nursing them back to health, or welcoming them as permanent members of the family.
Dewey is survived by his daughter Bree DeMello and husband Colin of Bedford; daughter Alana O’Connell and husband Michael of Stratham; son Frank “Cole” Warren and wife Erica of Portsmouth; and his beloved grandsons who knew him as ‘Papa Dew’ - Crew, Breckon, and Cade. He is also survived by his brother Bradley Warren and wife Pam of Lunenburg, MA; his niece Taylor; nephew Bradley Jr.; and his longtime partner, Karen Arceci. He is predeceased by his father, Dr. Frank Orville Warren II & mother, Virginia (Buciak) Warren.
Dewey will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and unforgettable humor anyone fortunate enough to cross his path knew so well. His legacy of care and compassion will live on through all who knew and loved him.
Visiting hours will be held at McHugh Funeral Home in Manchester on Monday, December 22nd, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a service at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The German Shepard Rescue of New England (https://gsrne.org).
