

He was born in Canso, Nova Scotia, Canada on April 20, 1911, the son of William T. and Mary (MacKenzie) Lukeman. He attended local schools until he emigrated to the United States in 1920, where his family eventually settled in Manchester, NH. He graduated from St. Joseph High School for Boys and then attended and graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston, MA.
He worked as a pharmacist in local pharmacies for several years and was the owner of the Union Street Pharmacy at 782 Union St. in Manchester for many years. After selling his business he worked for Coll's Pharmacy for several years prior to his retirement.
Jim played high school basketball, enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and as much time at the beach as possible. He was an excellent amateur photographer and skied the mountains of NH well into his mid- 80’s. He was a member of the League of 1000 Men of the Precious blood.
He was pre deceased by his wife of 54 years, Irene (Scarlett) Lukeman in September 1988. He was also pre deceased by his brother and three sisters.
Family members include a son, James R. Lukeman and a daughter, Maureen Goodnow, both of Manchester; six grandchildren, James W. Lukeman of Hooksett, Stacey M. Juza and Kathleen A. Bayliss of Manchester, Richard A. Postera of Anacortes, WA, Barry Postera of Fremont, NH and Brian Postera of Turners Falls, MA; as well as several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his longtime companion, Jeanne Messier of Manchester.
There are no calling hours. A celebration of his life and urn burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford will be held at the convenience of the family.
