She was predeceased by her loving husband of 73 years - Raymond HH Jackson, her brothers Raymond Soucy, Albert Soucy, Robert Soucy, Edward Soucy and Andre Soucy, her sisters Frances Charest, Marcel Lamy, Doris Adams and Lorette Soucy. Violet is survived by her son Dana R Jackson, daughter Debra L Browning, daughter-in-law Candie J Jackson, grandchildren Raymond Blair, Kenneth Blair, Jessica-Mae Blair, Damien McEntee, Kaleb McEntee, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, brother Roland Soucy and her special friends Derek and Susan Waldron and Charles P. Violet grew up in the Great Depression, helping her mother and father raise her six brothers and four sisters through the years. After graduating from Central High School, she met Ray at the Pine Island Roller Rink in Manchester. She married “the love of her life” in 1941. Two years later Ray went off to war in Europe while Violet worked as a Cosmetics Clerk at Leavitt’s Department Store in Manchester.
In 1945 World War II ended and Ray came home to “Sweet Violet,” as he called her. They built a wood and granite house in 1950 in Manchester, loved and raised a son and daughter and lived an unforgettable life there for 65 years. Violet lived there to the end - 72 years.
Vi loved the holidays, especially Christmas. They were opportunities to get together with family and friends to have a good meal, a good talk and a fun time. She also loved trips to the NH beaches and the White Mountains, where she was always in awe of the natural beauty. Her passion was her home. She was like a bee, always buzzing around the house cleaning this or that. A clean, organized house was of utmost importance to her. Vi made it a point to send greeting cards to family and friends, be it birthday, wedding, congratulations, sympathy or thank you. She always mailed a card with a personal note.
Vi was always giving money, clothes or food to family, friends and charities. She was driven to help people.
Vi was a person of strong convictions. She would listen to what you had to say, think about it intelligently, then tell you what she thought. She was a petite, strong-willed woman who never backed down and fought for what was right. Then there was the best side of Vi, when she was talking with you and her eyes twinkled. That twinkle was all the kindness that she held in her heart. And she loved a special Rat Terrier/Blue Heeler named Buddy...
