Deacon James Edward Jackson was born on May 8, 1945, in Brewton, Alabama, to the late William Jackson Sr. and Linnie Mae Jackson. From an early age, James displayed a strong work ethic, a gentle spirit, and a deep love for family and faith.
James graduated from Southern Normal Private School in 1964. It was there that he met his childhood sweetheart, Eudenna Marie. Their love story blossomed, and they were united in holy matrimony on Christmas Day, December 25, 1965. From this blessed union came four daughters: Cynthia Marie, Sherry Lynn, Dana Marie, and Deborah Lynn, whom James loved dearly and guided with wisdom, patience, and unwavering devotion.
James worked as a short-order cook at Howard Johnson where he was known for his diligence and friendly demeanor. He later began a long and fulfilling career with JCPenney Department Store, starting as a Design Manager, and eventually retiring as a top performing Furniture Store Salesman at the age of 63. His professionalism and commitment earned him the respect of coworkers and customers alike.
A devoted believer in Jesus Christ, James faithfully served the Lord and his church family. He was ordained as a Deacon under the leadership of Pastor Owen L. Alston of Harmony Ministries USA, Inc. Later, James was appointed Vice President of Harmony Ministries and for a time oversaw the Trustee Department. As a dedicated student of the Word, he attended ministerial leadership classes to deepen his spiritual understanding. Known as a true intercessor, James could often be found praying early in the morning on behalf of his family, his church, and all those in need.
James leaves to cherish his memory his four loving daughters: Cynthia Jackson Redd of Manchester, NJ; Sherry McGuire and her husband, Reverend Dr. Andre McGuire, of Freehold, NJ; Dana Jackson of Somerset, NJ; and Deborah Jackson Thomas of Somerset, NJ. He is also survived by his grandson, Isaiah Redd of McKinney, TX and brother, Donald Jackson of Ronkonkoma, NY, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
James was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Linnie Mae Jackson; his beloved wife, Eudenna Marie Jackson; his brother, William Jackson Jr; and his sister, Shirley Frear.
Deacon James Edward Jackson will be remembered for his steadfast faith, loving heart as a Husband, Father and Grandfather, quiet strength, and the legacy of prayer and devotion he leaves behind. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love remains forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
A viewing will be held for James at the New Beginnings Agape Christian Center, 133 Throckmorton St., Freehold, NJ, on Friday, January 23rd, 2026, from 11 am to 12 pm, with a service immediately following.
