Juliet Allen

Juliet Allen, 98, of Manchester twp., passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on March 11th, 2023. Born in the Rep of Panama to Mr. Richard Theodore Osborne and Iris Romelia Palmer Osborne. She is survived by her husband, Vincent Allen; her children Denise Allen (Lopez-Rodriguez), Juanita Allen (Hall) Vincent Allen Jr. and predeceased by her daughter, Myrna Allen (Brown). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Rashid Allen (Yaira) Gabriel Lopez-Allen, Ivan Brown (Averia) and Max Lopez-Allen. Great grandchildren: Karel and Juliet Allen, Myrina and Miles Brown. Her sisters: Grace Allen, Leila Parker, Spica Berrio, and predeceased Vesper Belton. Brothers: Wendell Osborne, Olin Osborne and Newton Osborne. Juliet grew up in La Concepcion, Province of Chiriquí, Rep of Panama. She studied at Academia Hispano Americano in Costa Rica and became a schoolteacher. She traveled to the United States in 1954, and married Vincent Allen in 1958. Juliet studied at Nassau Community College and Pace University, graduating as an RN, BSN and certified as a CCU Nurse. She continued her studies at Columbia University and studied Transcultural Psychology. She worked for 35 years in various institutions with the mentally ill, both inpatient and outpatient: North Shore Medical Center, Long Island, NY; New York University Medical Center, NYC, NY; St Barnabas Medical Center, Bronx, NY; Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY; St. Johns Medical Center, Santa Monica, CA; Pioneer Memorial Medical Center, Brawley, CA and Presbyterian Medical Center, Puerto Rico. She retired from Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, NYC, NY. Juliet was an adventurous world traveler and visited many places: Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Egypt, Morocco, Ghana, South Africa; most of Central America, South America, Ushuaia southernmost city before Antarctica, Europe, Russia, China and most of the US. She enjoyed many cruises and train travel throughout the US and abroad. She also was also one of the few who made the transatlantic flight from New York to Paris on the Air France Concorde during its inception. She always encouraged others to travel and see the world. Juliet and her husband Vincent Allen were members of the Toms River SDA. She traveled to Ghana to participated in the opening of an elementary school by the SDA African Mission in Ghana. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in memory of Juliet to their favorite charity.
