Nikolaus A. Holinaty, 86, of Manchester, NJ, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Community Medical Center. Born in Lviv, Ukraine, he emigrated to Vienna, Austria in 1944 and later to the U.S. in 1952 as a Displaced Person. He settled in Newark, NJ and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean Conflict in Germany as a translator. He married Marion Gargiulo in 1964. He worked for RCA/MCI in Finance. Nikolaus was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the VFW.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Marion Holinaty; three sons, Colonel (retired) Francis Holinaty and his wife Sherry of Fairfax, VA, Stephen Holinaty and Alexander Holinaty, both of Manchester; two sisters, Taissa Bohdansky and Maria Holinaty, both of San Diego, CA; and five grandchildren, Matthew, Elexander, Cole, Gabriella and Mykala.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 8, from 4pm to 8pm with prayer service at 7 pm at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Rd, Manchester. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, June 9 at St. Stephen Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1344 White Oak Bottom Rd., Toms River, NJ.
