Alan was a man that lived his own way, and he did so up until the very end. From his long haired hippie days in the 60s and 70s to his days spent as a grandpa to his three beautiful grandchildren, Alan was a unique, funny, unforgettable man. He was a master “fibber” and loved to keep people guessing if he was being serious or not. He would lighten the mood when things got hard and he never turned his back to his friends or family when they were in need. Alan was a giving, generous man that loved spoiling his grandkids and 5 cats- whom he loved almost equally. He never cared about money- he knew from a young age that what matters most in this life can’t be bought and he lived accordingly. Alan was an inspiration to many. He was an incredibly resilient man that, despite many hardships in his life, remained a source of light, love and laughter to all around him. Alan was an avid music lover and could recite facts about the decade songs were released, who they were written and performed by and who sampled them later on. He’d often spend his days listening to music from sun up until sun down.
It’s hard to truly capture the type of man that Alan was in words. He was the kind of man that his children admired, his friends depended on, and all respected. He was the “cool dad” that everyone wanted- complete with a fridge full of Pepsi products, cupboards full of sweet treats and snacks, and the best vibes around. He was a dedicated, hard worker and the best provider for his family. He was a man with integrity that believed in paying your debts and doing what’s right, priding himself in the fact that he owed no one anything when he passed. He will be remembered with so much love and truly missed by his family, friends and countless others.
Alan was preceded in death by his mother, Belberta Dailey, whom he adored, and his wife and lifelong partner, Jerilyn Dailey, who put up with his shenanigans for almost 40 years. He is survived by his son, Alex (Amber) Dailey, and his daughter, Cassandra (Juan) Dailey. He also leaves behind three grandchildren that he cherished and loved beyond words: Charlee Rose, Adonis Alan, and Tillie Belle.
Alan did not wish to have funeral arrangements, so his children will be hosting a small, private celebration of life by invitation only. The family asks that these wishes be respected.
His children will be making a donation to the Richland County Humane Society in his name and encourage those that want to honor him in some way to donate to this amazing organization as well.
Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services by Wappner is honored to serve the Dailey family.
