
Alvin G. Turner, Sr., 61, of Mansfield, died Sunday, November 16, 2008 at Wade Park Veteran's Hospital. Born September 5, 1947 in Huntington, West Virginia, he was the son of Raymond C. and Margaret Eisnaugle Turner. Alvin served in the U.S. Army for one tour in Vietnam. He worked at Tappan for 15 years and was also a self-employed truck driver with Admiral Merchants Freight. Alvin loved his family, and enjoyed NASCAR racing and camping in Tennessee. He was a member of the Amvets Post #31 and an avid handyman.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Flannery Turner; mother, Margaret Turner of Huntington, West Virginia; son, Alvin Jackie Turner, Jr. of Mansfield; three daughters, Candy L. Turner, Kozetta A. Turner, and Christina Traff Brauchler, all of Mansfield; five grandsons, Colton, Travis, Anthony, Trevor, and Cory; nine granddaughters, Katey, Skie C., Sky H., Chelsea, Tabatha, Breanna, Ella, Brookyn, and Alyssa; five brothers, Tom Reba Turner, Jim Mary Turner, all of Huntington, West Virginia, Gary Gail Turner, of Mansfield, his twin brother, Malvin Turner of Huntington, West Virginia, and Donald Turner of San Francisco, California; one sister, Laura Raymond Stwart of Huntington, West Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond C. Turner; daughter, Pamela LeRose; and two grandchildren, Megan and Chandler Brauchler.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield, Ohio 44902. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Deering Dyer. Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
