Arthur Murray

Arthur F. “Art” Murray, 84, of Mansfield, died Monday, August 1, 2011 at Twin Oaks. Born August 19, 1926 in Vinton County, Ohio, he was the son of James E. and Zelma (Zinn) Murray, Sr. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Art was a self employed mechanic and also worked for Sprint. He enjoyed racing go-carts and owned his own stock car, flying model airplanes, and doing woodworking. Art loved his cat, Lovie and dog, Gabby and was a beloved husband and father and would do anything for anybody.

He is survived by his daughters, Penny (B.A.) Hill and Barbara (Bob) Watts, both of Mansfield; sister, Helen Pfahler Johnson of Mansfield; and brother, Cliff (Margaret) Murray of Mansfield. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian (Cornell) Murray on October 11, 2010; brothers, Mack Murray and James “Jim” Murray, Jr.; and sister, Mary Getts Johnson.

Friends may call Thursday, August 4, 2011 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 5, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Cook Rd. Baptist Church, 54 E. Cook Rd., Mansfield, conducted by Rev. Jack Hackworth. Burial will follow in Caesarea Cemetery.
