
Bert Bailey, 74, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at his home. He died surrounded by his family and went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Born July 29, 1932 in Salyersville, Kentucky, he was the son of Kendall and Rosa Shepherd Bailey. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Bailey retired from Sprint in 1994 after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Shiloh United Baptist Church. He loved his family, animals, and birds.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Baker Bailey; son and daughter-in-law, Bert and Lorrie Bailey of Galion; daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Charles Maynard of Ontario; three grandchildren, Matthew Dawn Bailey, Dustin fiancée Kelly Cassidy Bailey, and Jami Hedrick, all of Galion; five great-grandchildren, Makaylia, Hali, and Zachary Bailey, Ethan Hedrick, and Evan Bachelder, all of Galion; four sisters and brother-in-law, Pearley Mize of Huron, Polly Lacey of Shelby, Elva Reed of Shelby, and Roberta Bobby Cole of Mansfield; and two brothers and sister-in-law, Delmer Bertha Bailey of Shiloh, and Fred Bailey of Shelby. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey Allen Bailey; and two brothers, James and Frank Bailey.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2006 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Delmer Bailey. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice.
