

Bertha Joan French, 79, of Mansfield, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017 at Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ashland. Born March 7, 1938 in Mansfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of John Isaac and IdaMae Ellen (Snyder) Salyers.
A homemaker, Bertha's family was most important to her. She raised eight children and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren ~ especially cooking for them. She also enjoyed dancing, listening to older country music especially Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn and Hank Williams, shopping and taking her yearly trip to Texas to visit her daughter when she lived there. Among her favorite past times were making Easter candy, fudge, rock candy and peanut brittle. She also enjoyed spoiling her dog, Tinkie.
She is survived by her children, Priscilla Brown (Jerry Dean), Clifton (Brenda) French, Debbie Crownover, Margie Phillips, Charlotte (Terry) Davidson, Stanley French (Barbara Radabaugh), Tina (Joe) Clark and Timothy (Amber) French; 21 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; and a sister, Carolyn Stover.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford French; three sisters, Judy Perry, Phyllis Adkins and Frances Reed; two brothers, Roger and Lawrence Salyers; two sons-in-law, Tom Crownover and Rodney Phillips; a daughter-in-law, Christy French; and a great great grandson.
Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the funeral home conducted by her grandson, Tyler Davidson. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home on Wednesday.
