
Betty Jean Thoma Cahill, age 73, of 159 N. Brookwood Way, died Monday, May 31, 2004 at Winchester Terrace following an extended illness. Mrs. Cahill was born April 3, 1931 in Mansfield living here most of her life. She was employed by Sears in Mansfield and moved to California in 1958 where she worked as a receptionist in a doctor's office. She moved to Colorado and worked for a title company. Betty returned to Mansfield in 1977 where she then worked at Emerson Electric and retired in 1993. Betty was a 1949 graduate of St. Peter's Catholic School and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. She was also a member of A.A.R.P. Chapter #4637, ECW and Alter Guild of Grace Episcopal Church, and volunteered at the Mansfield Playhouse.
She is survived by a step-daughter, Carol Hostetter of Dolphin, Pennsylvania; step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Michael and Diana Cahill of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two step-grandsons; four step-granddaughters; two step great-grandchildren; three sisters and brother-in-law, Gertrude Traxler with whom she made her home, Maggie and Roger Metcalf of Mansfield, and Susanna May King of North Fairfield, Ohio; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Mavis Thoma of El Cajon, California and Steve and Sally Thoma of Normal, Illinois; and two sisters-in-law, Lupe Thoma of Mansfield and Helen Thoma of Heath , Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; Stephen and Anna Enderle Thoma; three brothers, Louis, Albert, and Jack Thoma; and two sisters, Edna Irene and Mary Irene.
Friends may call at The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday, June 2, 2004 from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to Funeral services which will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Father John Jordan. Burial will follow at a later date in Mansfield Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society or Hospice of North Central Ohio.
