Betty Gottfried

Betty Jane Boop Gottfried, 82, died September 18, 2004 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness. She was born August 6, 1922 in Wilkensburg, PA to Raymond and Sophie Mutz Boop. She was a 1941 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. She worked at Westinghouse Electric, was a secretary at the Ohio Genealogical Society for several years, and was secretary at Neuman School until her retirement. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Mansfield. Betty always enjoyed working and helping people of all ages and going on her family's yearly trip to Florida. Betty also enjoyed cooking for friends and family.

Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Peg Henson Gottfried of Mansfield; one granddaughter, Alicia E. Gottfried of Mansfield; a brother, Raymond and his wife Rose Shokes Boop of Charleston, SC; five nieces; special cousin Miriam Schroeder; and many other relatives and loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert Bob, whom she married in 1947.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Tuesday September 21, 2004 from 6-9 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service with Rev. Allen E. Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Needy Meal Program at Main Street United Methodist Church, Richland County Humane Society, or to a charity of one's choice.
