
Beverly A. Laird, 77, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born March 30, 1932, in Ashland, she was the daughter of Harold James and Vida Culp James. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1950 and married her high school sweetheart, Robert F. Laird on June 21, 1953. Beverly was a very active member of the First Christian Church of Mansfield. She served as Past Governor of Ohio Civitan, was a charter member of the Ashland and Shelby Civitan Clubs, member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter #17, R.S.V.P. Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and Toy Time. She worked tirelessly for the Special Olympics and many other charitable organizations. Beverly loved spending time with her family and friends, especially enjoyed travelling the world with her husband and family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert; a son, Steven R. Laird Becky Overman of Mansfield; a granddaughter, Shawna Brian Dion; a grandson, Scott Laird Hannah Cook; one very special great-grandson, Luke Ryder Dion; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nancy James Dillon; and brother, Edward James.
Memorial services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2009, at the First Christian Church, 200 W. Third St. with Rev. Chris Whitehead officiating. Friends may visit at the church beginning at 2:00 p.m. to the time of the service. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Mrs. Laird. Memorial contributions in Beverly's memory may be made to the First Christian Church of Mansfield.
