
Billy W. Hess, age 68, of Mansfield died Saturday evening in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital unexpectedly. Mr. Hess was born May 8, 1932 in Fremont, Va. to Gaither and Lola Bise Hess living in the Mansfield area all his life. He retired from Empire-Detroit Steel in 1990. Mr. Hess was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Hillside First Church of God where he served on the church board. Bill was a loving father and husband, always willing to help others and a rock for his family.
Surviving are two son and daughters-in-law, Roger and Jennie Schulties of Lexington and Randy and Marcie Hess of Mansfield; four daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and Mike Gill, Rhonda and Ray Gatten, Billie Jo and Tom Elliott all of Mansfield and Amy and Jeff Miller of Lucas; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Buster Hess of Arizona, Don and Alma Hess of Shiloh and Gary and Roxanne Hess of Shiloh; a sister and brother-in-law, Faye and John Adkins of Rome, Ohio and a special friend, Dorothy Ball of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Thomas Hess; parents, Gaither and Lola Bise Hess; a sister, Helen Hess and a grandson, Tracy Mosier.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Directors on Tuesday November 14, 2000 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm in the funeral home on Wednesday November 15, 2000 by Rev. Glenn Phillips. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hillside First Church of God.
