
Billy E. Sutherland, 78, of Palm Bay, Florida, died Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at his home. Born January 30, 1930 in Dickenson County, Virginia, he was the son of William Morgan and Nannie Ethel Fleming Sutherland. He retired from the trucking industry. Billy was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Florida. He was a silversmith and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, and hunting. Billy always relished poking fun at people.
He is survived by two children, Peggy Roose of Mansfield, and Annette Caramel Jr. Smith of Mt. Gilead; grandchildren, Wesley Lorrie, Douglas Heather, and Jason Tackett, and Halla Smith; five great-grandchildren, Destiny, Serenity, and Rhiannon Tackett, and Jordan and Jesse Tackett; brother, Dewey Sutherland of Mansfield; sister, Irene Sutherland of Michigan; and special cousin "a son", Donnie Ray Sutherland. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dolly L. Sutherland on October 18, 2007, whom he will be joining; sisters, Beulah Sutherland, and Agnes Trivett; and brothers, George, Mack, Jack, Elmer, and Delmer Sutherland; and great-grandson, Jimmy Tackett.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2009 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield, where services will be held at 7:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. Wayne Guinn. Friends may also call from 12 to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or the Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus. A gathering for friends and family will take place after the graveside service at Madison Township Hall, 817 Expressview Dr., Mansfield.
