Charles Douglas Riddle, 86, of Galion, OH, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at OSU Wexner Hospital in Columbus, OH. He was born on May 23, 1939, to the late Henry and Ruth (Staples) Riddle in Echo, Virginia.
Charles was very adventurous yet had the charm of a southern gentleman. He enchanted his way into the love of his life’s heart, Shirley (Miller) Riddle and they were married on November 7, 1959. Together they shared 65 years of love, adventures, and happiness. Charlie had boundless love for his family and friends.
Throughout his lifetime he worked for the American Steel Grave Vault, Perfection Cobey, and retired from Gledhill Road Machinery. When Charlie was not working, you could find him on the lake fishing, hunting, camping, and enjoying woodworking. But most of all, he treasured his vegetable garden. He loved to make sure everyone he knew received vegetables from his garden. Charlie was a member of the Moose Lodge 303, Army and Navy, and the American Legion of Galion.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Shirley Riddle; son, James (Donna House) Riddle of Galion, OH; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roger D. (Kathy) Riddle of Virginia, and Ray Leo (Pam) Riddle of Galion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Billy Joe Riddle in 2021; three brothers; and two sisters.
