Born July 2, 1927 in Lucas, he was the son of Brice and Mary Viola (Nichols) Shaffer. A lifetime resident to Lucas, Charles retired from Mansfield Tire after 35 ½ years of service. He was a member of the 25 year Club of Mansfield Tire and the Eagles #336.
He is survived by his children, Keith (Diane) Shaffer; Gary (Kathy) Shaffer and Ruth Ann Shaffer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nelda M. (Ray) Shaffer; sisters, Leota Witter, Florence Talon and Nina Pace; brothers, Virgil Shaffer, Roy Shaffer and his twin, Homer Shaffer; and a niece, Gail Shaffer.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield conducted by Rev. George Reece. Burial in Mansfield Cemetery will be held at a later date.
