
Chester A. Lowe, 72, of Mansfield, died Tuesday evening, June 22, 2004, at his home. He was born August 2, 1931 in Carter County, Kentucky to Bailey and Ethel Bryant Lowe and was a Mansfield area resident since 1956. Chester retired after 38 years of service with AK Steel. He enjoyed watching car racing and wrestling. Driving in the country with his family was another of his joys.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Joy Lowe whom he married in 1955; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Herald D. Lowe and Rickie Allen and Lois Lowe, all of Mansfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Woodrow Shaffer of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Jami Lowe, Chet Lowe, and John Shaffer; one great-grandson, Jeremiah Lowe; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Lucille and Albert Barker of Grahn, Kentucky, Pearl Stevens of Alliance, Lynn Lowe of Mansfield, and Ruby Carroll of Ypsilanti, Michigan; and a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Edna Lowe of Galion. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James Lowe, and two brothers-in-law, Lester Stevens and Michael Carroll.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Sunday, June 27 from 3-5 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Dean Road Freewill Baptist church, officiated by Rev. Earl Tackett. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
