

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Greater Beneficial Union and Mansfield Liederkranz. Christine loved to care for her home and especially enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. In her later years, she also enjoyed fishing.
Christine is survived by her daughters, Paula M. Harris of Seneca, SC, Sieglinde (Chuck) Deem of Marion, OH; three grandchildren, Dan (Shanna) Krizan III, Nicole (Shane) Gearhart, and Charles (Sally) Deem; six great-grandchildren, Morgen Conn, Daniel IV and Oliver Krizan, Luke and Clint Gearhart, and Andrew Deem; two brothers, Georg (Hilde) Hermann and Franz (Ingrid) Hermann; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 15 years, Georg Schmidt; two sisters, Barbara Meng and Katarina Ulrich; and two brothers, Johann and Adam Hermann.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ronald E. Daley officiating. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Capital City Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.
