

Clarence Jay Young, 89, of Mansfield, went home to see Jesus on March 20, 2015. Born November 2, 1925 in Fredericktown, he was the son of Marion and Eva (Clark) Young. Clarence attended Bellville schools and went on to work for General Motors, where he retired after 28 years of service. He also was a farmer, having a small farm in Ashland, County. A strong union man and member of Local 549, Clarence enjoyed following world events and the stock market. A faithful man who read his Bible daily, he was a member of Community Bible Church and also attended Victory Baptist. In his earlier years, Clarence enjoyed gardening, horses, and spending time with his dog, Barney. Later in life, he worked as a courier for Mechanics Bank for 8 years. Clarence was always an active gentleman and ready for conversation. He lived out the rest of his life with the residents and friends at The Waterford in Mansfield.
Surviving are his daughters, Sandra "Sandy" (Jack) Anderson of Loudonville, Joyce (Eugene) Smith of Jeromesville, and Nancy (Roland) Smith of Ashland; son, Garry (Cheryl) Young of Wilkes-Barre, PA; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by his infant son, Johnny Young; former wife and mother of his children, Roselene Young; brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard (Donna) Young and Floyd (Velma) Young; and sisters and brother-in-law, Bessie (Dwight) Milo and Doris Young.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, March 23, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 South Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Owl Creek, Church of the Brethren - Ankneytown Cemetery.
