
Conrad Lee Shuster, 75, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away Thursday, February 26, 2009, after a courageous battle with illness. Conrad was a close friend to many and will be sorely missed. He was born August 16, 1933, in Ashland, Ohio, and attended Mansfield High School. Conrad never stopped serving his country. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and went on to retire from both United States Navy and the United States Civil Service. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Center 21 of Mansfield, Ohio, and American Legion. Conrad was an animal lover who will be missed dearly by his sweet cat, Tipper. The joy of his life was his family. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Paul Gerhardt of Springfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Christopher Mabry and Brian Swain of Columbus, Ohio, Jonathan Mabry and Jared Hunnell of Springfield, Ohio, Laura and Michael Meade of Springhill, Tennessee, Tammy and David Swims of Pecks Mill, West Virginia and Kyle Gerhardt of Springfield, Ohio; great grandchildren, Ethan Mabry, Benjamin and Olivia Meade, Addison Swims, Nathanial and Oliver Gerhardt. He is preceded in death by his dear wife, Phyllis Shuster; parents, Guy and Ocha Shuster; and his infant son, Baby Shuster. The family wishes to acknowledge the special care provided by the doctors and nurses of the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2009, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, with visitation one hour prior to the funeral ceremony. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
