David was born in Mansfield, Ohio on May 1, 1927. He was the beloved son of Harry and Lena (Schroeder) Conner. David served in the United States Army. He began working at Tappan Stove Company while in high school and retired as the General Manager. He was mechanically minded and performed many skilled jobs while employed with them. A skilled and talented metal worker and wood worker, David built the family home where he raised his family with his late wife, Maxine. Maxine and David married on November 19, 1948 and built a beautiful life together. David was a devoted husband who dearly missed his wife after her passing. David was a member of St. John’s Church of Christ where he served on the Church Council. A passionate outdoorsmen, David enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a clever euchre player who loved the game.
David is survived by his daughters, Jane (Thomas) Hampton of Mansfield and Nancy (Michael) Jones of Akron; grandsons, Scott (Tina) Hampton of Mansfield, Luke (Laurel) Hampton of Chicago, Illinois, Jeff (Andrea) Jones of Columbus and Ben (Brittny) Jones of Akron; great-grandchildren, Laura, Jimmy, Joey, Emilia, Dylan, Olive, and Violet; sister-in-law, Shirley Schuttera; and many cherished family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents; his precious wife, Maxine (Dillon) Conner who passed on October 29, 2016; his brothers, Thomas (Mary) and James (Norma) Conner; sister-in-law, Margaret (Richard) Davies; and brother-in-law, John Schuttera.
Family and friends may visit from 10:00-11:00 am on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield, 98 S. Diamond Street. Services will follow at 11:00 am.
