
Dean L. McBride, 78, of Mansfield, died Wednesday evening, June 24, 2009, at his home. Born October 25, 1930, in Mansfield, he was the son of Raymond and Florence Harris McBride. Dean was employed as a pipefitter with AK Steel, retiring with over 42 years of service. He was a member of the Air National Guard during the Korean War, serving with the 164th Squadron. He will be remembered as 'Dino', the greeter for 15 years at the Ontario Wal-Mart. He enjoyed traveling-visiting every state in the lower 48 with his wife, Gwen, NASCAR and spending his summers at Lake Maria. Dean was a member of Southside Christian Church on Middle-Bellville Road. He was also a member of the following organizations: Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio; Shelby Chapter #178, Order of the Eastern Star; Rizpah Chapter #153 of Shelby; Knights Templar Commandry #21; Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton; Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, PWOS Naomi Shrine #10; Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, Shiloh #0544; Supreme Council Order of the Amaranth, Akron Court #5; Bellville Amvets Post #43; and Mansfield Liederkranz.
He is survived by two daughters, Robyn Butch Clinage and Sheila Mike Caruthers, all of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Michelle Clinage, Jason Clinage and Crystal Shane Dishong; numerous foster children; eight great-grandchildren; and special friend, Barb Oglesbee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendelin May Wharton McBride; parents; and brothers, Thor and Daryl McBride.
Friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Masonic services will be observed at 7:00 p.m. with Shiloh Lodge #544 presiding. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Paul Lintern of Southside Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice.
