

Deborah “Debbie” Ann Ray, 58, passed away unexpectedly Monday evening, October 17, 2011 at her home. Born July 31, 1953 in Mansfield, she was the only daughter of the late Coy and Esther (Caudell) Montgomery.
Debbie was a lifelong Mansfield resident, graduating from Mansfield Senior High School in 1971 and working for several years at Mansfield General Hospital in Medical Records. She attended Wyandotte Free Will Baptist Church. On August 14, 1971, she married Terry Ray and they enjoyed camping and fishing with their family. A lover of nature, Debbie enjoyed sitting on her back patio watching her dogs play. Times spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and the wonderful family cookouts, were the joy of Debbie’s life. She loved her yellow, chocolate and black Labrador retrievers.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Terry Ray; children, Terra Ray and Kim Griffith; god-daughter, Mindi (See) Reiter and her husband, Freddy; grandchildren, Kayla and Cheyenne Ray; god-grandchildren, Kyleigh and Raygen Reiter; great-granddaughter, BreAnna Ray; four brothers, Ron and Darrell Montgomery, both of AZ, Pete (Yvonne) Montgomery and Rick (Sandy) Montgomery, all of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gary “Buddy” Montgomery.
Friends may visit from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. A funeral service celebrating Debbie’s life will be conducted by Rev. Kevin Evans, Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the National MS Society, Northwest Ohio Chapter.
