Della Jean Sampsel

Della Jean Sampsel, 75, of Mansfield passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025, at home. Della was born on August 9, 1949, in Shelby to Glen and Ruby Boyce. Della worked as a Paraprofessional for 30+ years for Mansfield City School District. She enjoyed spending her time singing and playing the piano, watching soap operas and attending air shows. Della was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns fan. She was an active member at MAC Church, formerly First Alliance Church, where she enjoyed fellowship and attending bible study. She most treasured spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Della is survived by her husband of 52 years, William Sampsel; three children, Chris W. Sampsel, Billie Jean Jordan and Andrew G. (Holly) Sampsel; eleven grandchildren, Austin Toon (Miranda), Brandie Harris (Nick), Drew Sampsel, Caleb A. Sampsel, Joel W. Sampsel, Abigail J. Sampsel, Autumn Sampsel, Keeley Gentry, Hailey Gentry, Corey Gentry and Gavin Baker; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Glen Boyce, Jr; nieces and nephews, David Lumadue (Lori), Paul Lumadue (Cindy), Tammy Rhea (Scott), Bobby Au (Steve), Christy Au, Ryan Au, Alan Au (Tiffany), Amy Sampsel, Jen Wicker, Dustin Lumadue and Megan Lumadue; son-in -law, Jason Gentry; brother-in-law, Edward Sampsel; sister-in-law, Susan Heslup; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and many cousins.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth D. Gentry; brother, Daniel Boyce (Shirley); sister, Connie Charles (Bob); two nieces, Shelly Boyce and Diana Lumadue; and sister-in-law, Cindy Sampsel.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield, 98 S. Diamond Street, from 5pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be Friday, March 14, 2025, at MAC Church at 10am officiated by Pastor Steve Jackson. Burial will follow in Myers Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family
