

Dennis E. Siler, 72, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday morning, October 15, 2013 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born May 18, 1941 in Ashland to the late Reba (Korns) and Lyman Siler. He joined the U.S. Army in 1967 and after discharge was employed at Lisn Co.
Dennis earned his 5th degree black belt in Kang Duk Quon-Korean Style karate. He was the owner of Ashland Karate Academy and also taught martial arts at the YMCA and Ashland University. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, playing basketball, softball, bowling and was nominated into the Ashland County Sports Hall of Fame. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #1067, American Legion Post #88, Amvets Post #96, Elks #1360, and the Ashland Business Men Association.
He is survived by his wife, Yvone Janice Carroll Siler; two sons, Tony (Heather) Siler of Avon, Scott (Tiffany) Siler of Medina; a daughter, Terri (Frank) Danals of Ashland; six grandchildren, Joe Mullet of Columbus, Amber (Ryan) Gorman of Bellville, Dustin (Erica) Mullet of Ashland, McKenzie and Miranda Siler of Avon, Scott E. Siler of Medina; five great-grandchildren, Hailie, Ryleigh, Charlie, Lincoln and Peyton; a brother, Keith (Eloise) Siler of Ashland; a sister, Linda Clark of Mansfield; and numerous special nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Jenifer Siler.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2013 in the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue. The funeral service conducted by Rev. David Parsons will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with additional visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery with military honors presented by the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
