

Dewey Caudill, 84, of Olympia, Kentucky, formerly of Mansfield, Ohio went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Dewey was born on December 4, 1933 in Hitchins, Kentucky. He was the son of the late John and Mary (Hay) Caudill.
Dewey retired from Empire Detriot Steel Division after 40 years as a crane operator, and was a member of Local Steelworkers Union #169. Dewey lived his life for Christ and was a God fearing man who strived to make Heaven his home, and this he did accomplish. He taught his children and grandchildren the path that they needed to follow using the Bible as their guide. In his earlier years, he was instrumental in the building of Stiving Road Freewill Baptist Church now known as New Beginnings Freewill Baptist Church. He was also the founding member and helped to build Wyandott Freewill Baptist Church. As the church congregation grew, a new building was needed and Dewey helped put together plans for the new building that is now Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church. He served as the senior Deacon for 36 years and a dedicated member. He was dedicated to reading and studying the word of God. His world centered around his family and grandchildren. Dewey enjoyed wood carving and daily devotion time. Dewey will be missed greatly by his family and church family. They are thankful that Dewey lived his life as a Godly example for them to follow.
Dewey leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 65 years, Faye Ruth (Miller) Caudill; his children, Dewey (Janet) Caudill Jr. of Portland, TN, Nancy (Mike) Messer of Morehead, KY, and Amanda (Robert) Branham of Olympia, KY; son-in-law, Donald Branham; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; brothers, John Arlon (Peggy) Caudill of Hitchins, KY and Bill (Wanda) Caudill of Mansfield, OH; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Branham; grandchildren, Sarah Ruth Caudill and Zachary Caudill; great-grandson, Roland Kemp Jr.; sister, Virginia Roberta Caudill; and two brothers, Ulysses Ray Caudill and Robert Dale Caudill.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church, 1602 Walker Lake Road from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm. A funeral service celebrating Dewey's life will be held at the church on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest at Mansfield Memorial Park.
