
Diane Lynn Gibson, age 50, of Mansfield, died early Sunday morning, November 2, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Gibson was born September 5, 1953 in Richland County and has been a life long resident. Mrs. Gibson taught for twenty-seven years in the Mansfield City Schools at Appleseed and Malabar Middle Schools. Diane's passion for teaching and her great love for her students has inspired many. Her strength and determination will be greatly missed by all her knew her. Mrs. Gibson was a 1971 graduate of Ontario High School, and a 1975 graduate of Miami University of Ohio with a Bachelors Degree in Education. Mrs.Gibson enjoyed spending her time gardening and working in her greenhouse and had a passion for genealogy.
Surviving is her husband of thirty years, Robert Gibson of Mansfield, two sons, Robert D. Gibson and Adam C. Gibson both of Mansfield; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Allan and Brenda Ditty of Sumter, South Carolina, Gary and Lynda Ditty and Steve and Candee Ditty both of Galion, Ohio; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Laura and Roger Bowling of Mansfield and Karen and Richard Brown of Sunbury, Ohio; her mother, Georgia Ditty of Ontario, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. Her father, Alva E. Ditty, preceded Mrs. Gibson in death.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. conducted by Rev. Paul Walters. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Galion, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to a Scholarship Fund in Diane's name through The Richland Foundation.
