
Donald E. Carroll, 72, of Mansfield died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, January 5, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Mr. Carroll was born July 24, 1930 in Huntington, West Virginia to Willard James and Genie Gill Carroll. He lived most of his life in the Mansfield area. Until his retirement, Donald was employed as a bearing repairman with Empire Detroit Steel. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed deer hunting and camping. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In his younger days, he enjoyed shooting pool. Donald actively participated in area car shows with his sons, making and enjoying street rods together. He was a caring, good man who loved to have fun and will be remembered as a real prankster.
He is survived by three sons, Larry E. Carroll, his wife, Terry, two children, Courtney and Lindsay, all of Mansfield; Rodney E. Carroll, his wife, Sue, three children, Mark Joseph Carroll, his wife, Debbie and their daughter, Kala; Rodney E. Carroll, Jr. and Donald E. Carroll II, all of Mansfield; and Robert D. Carroll of Mansfield; four sisters, Edna Newland of Mansfield, Lucille Hiberland, Blanche Flurry and Ruby Golihue, all of Grayson, Kentucky; a brother, Curtis Carroll of Napoleon, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara E. Carroll on March 13, 1997; his parents; two brothers, Charles and Willard Carroll; and two sisters, Mary Eddy and Elizabeth Fite.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Wednesday, January 8 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, Thursday at 1:00 p.m., conducted by Pastor Brian A. Phillips. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
