
Donald William Croft, 85, of Ontario, died Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at his home following a brief illness. Born August 17, 1920 in Nallen, West Virginia, he was the son of Joseph and Jeanetta Withrow Kraft. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII in the Pacific Campaign. In the 1950's, he was the proprietor of Croft Cleaning Service. Mr. Croft retired from Westinghouse in 1983. He was an avid outdoorsman and served in Civilian Conservation Corp. in Oregon. Mr. Croft enjoyed gardening, metal craft, carving and scrapbooking, and playing his harmonica. He was treasured and loved by all his family and friends.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia J. and Bruce D. Mackenzie of Mansfield; two sisters, Ida and Ruth Scanlon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian Anliker Croft; brother, Henry Croft, LaVern Oney, and Clifford Croft; sister, Georgia Kendall; step brother, Howard Harry Guthrie; and step sister, Elda Huberger.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2006 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Carl Cunfer. Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Disabled American Veterans.
