

Donald W. Hartman, 72, of Catawba Island, formerly of Mansfield, passed away Tuesday September 28, 2004 at Firelands Regional Hospital in Sandusky, OH after a long illness. He was born January 26, 1932 in Mansfield, OH to Loyal and Mabel Erick Hartman. He was a Mansfield City police officer from 1961 to 1986, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, a member of F.H. Marquis Lodge #690 and Valley of Columbus, a 32nd degree Mason, avid fisherman and a charter captain for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife Anna Huffman Hartman, who he wed July 14, 1968; four sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Cindy Hartman of Willard, OH, Frank and Linda Payne of Arkansas, Steve and Michelle Payne of Texas, and Kevin Payne of Fremont, OH; four daughters and son-in-law, Sheila Payne of Mt. Vernon, OH, Judy Dobbin of Columbus, OH, Sherrie and Don Walters of Shelby, OH, and Debbie Payne of Mansfield, OH; 14 grandchildren; two great granddaughters; his mother, Mabel Hartman of Mansfield, OH; one brother, Carl Hartman of Mansfield, OH; and three sisters, Sharon Easter, Thelma Stimens, and Martha Holland, all of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his father.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Friday October 1, 2004 from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor J. Dodd officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
