
Donald Harvey Milligan, 87, of Reidsville, North Carolina died early Sunday morning, May 20, 2007, at his home. Born February 2, 1920 in Crestline, he was the son of Harvey and Lela Wharton Milligan. He was a member of Mansfield Baptist Temple and served in the bus ministry, usher and served wherever he was needed at the church from 1953 until he moved to North Carolina in 2001. In Reidsville, he was a member of Baptist Temple Church. He was formerly employed in Mansfield as a mechanic for Moorhead Ford, as a finish carpenter for Burkhart Construction, as a route truck driver for Independent Towel Company, as Mall Maintenance at Richland Mall, retiring in 1995. Mr. Milligan was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a fun loving man who maintained his sense of humor throughout his illness.
Survivors include a daughter, Judith Stanley Kemp of Mansfield; two sons, Lyle Martha Milligan, Larry Sherry Milligan, all of NC; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a brother, Floyd Rebecca Milligan of Mansfield; a sister, Evelyn Milligan of Waco, TX; and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his wife of 57 years, Dorothy E. Osgood Milligan on November 14, 2006, his parents, five brothers, Harold, Ivan, Robert, Vernon and Forrest, three sisters, Thelma Williams, Doris Buckley, Eileen Neptune, granddaughter, Sharyn Kemp and great-grandson, Evan Kemp.
Friends may call Wednesday, May 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Dr. Dale V. Adkins. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Debt Reduction Fund at Baptist Temple Church, 729 Wentworth St., Reidsville, NC 27320.
