Dorothy Elliott

Dorothy E. Elliott, 84, of Bellville, died Friday, March 9, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born March 19, 1927 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Daniel and Buelah (Yearling) Schenk. Dorothy was a graduate of Madison High School and a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She worked for several years at the Hilltop Restaurant and then became a homemaker, living in Madison township her whole time here. Dorothy enjoyed going to flea markets, auctions, and garage sales and making rugs. A real caregiver, she was the matriarch of the family always thinking about everyone else. Dorothy loved cooking for everybody and had a family dinner every Monday night.

She is survived by her children, Daniel G. (Shirley) Elliott, Sr., Ronald W. (Amber) Elliott, and Shirley (Jess) Elliott-Hurlburt; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband whom she married in October 1947, Eugene A. Elliott, and daughter, Patricia Sue Elliott.

Friends may call Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Additional visitation will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2012 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m., conducted by Rev. Robert Stull. Burial will follow in Windsor Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church.
