
Dorothy Ellen Milligan, 88, died Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital, Reidsville, North Carolina, after a brief illness. Mrs. Milligan was born in Knox County, Ohio, on February 13, 1918, to the late Ethel Marie Osgood Spencer. She lived in Danville, Ohio and the Mansfield area, moving to Reidsville, North Carolina, in December 2002. She was formerly employed at the Standard Oil Company in Danville, Dominion Electric, Jean Frocks, Maxwell's Department Store, Richland Blueprint and Cousins, Inc., all in Mansfield. She retired in 1983. Mrs. Milligan taught the second grade Sunday school class at Mansfield Baptist Temple for twenty-nine years and also served in the Elementary Junior Church as a counselor for many years. She was a member of Mansfield Baptist Temple and Baptist Temple Church in Reidsville.
Mrs. Milligan is survived by her husband of 57 years, Donald H. Milligan; daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Stanley Kemp of Mansfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lyle and Martha Milligan and Larry and Sherry Milligan, all of Reidsville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Floyd and Rebecca Milligan of Mansfield; sister-in-law, Evelyn Milligan of Waco, Texas; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her mother, two brothers, Deloy and Vincent Spencer, granddaughter, Shayrn Kemp and great-grandson, Evan Kemp.
Friends may call Friday, November 17 from 5-8 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Dale V. Adkins of Mansfield Baptist Temple officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park in Lexington. Memorial contributions may be made to the Debt Reduction Fund at Baptist Temple Church, 729 Wentworth St., Reidsville, North Carolina 27320.
